It’s Five Minute Friday time, and as promised, I have another giveaway for you, my favorite internet crowd!
In case you missed it last week, I’ve cooked up some amazing giveaways for every Friday in the month of October, mostly to keep the momentum going for many who are doing the 31 Days writing challenge, but also? Just because I love you guys.
(And psst … if you are doing 31 Days, do you realize that you’re a third of the way done?! Nice work!)
The theme of the giveaway month is Words Matter.
Why? Because words really do matter. Your words matter. His Word matters. If you forget everything else about this post, remember that. 🙂
All of the giveaways are things that I have personally drooled over and would want to win myself, so I hope you love them just as much as I do.
This week, I’m thrilled to announce that the giveaway is hosted by talented and beautiful Red Letter Words.
I just adore her work.
She’s got greeting cards …
… candles …
… and the most beautiful word art …
You can even customize your own items!
I’ve definitely got my eye on this gorgeous table runner ..
I love all of her work so much that I could hardly decide which pictures to include in this post. You really just have to click over to Red Letter Words to see all of the beautiful work yourself!
AND! There’s an and!
This Friday and Saturday only (October 10th and 11th), Red Letter Words is having their annual birthday sale, and you’re invited!
[Tweet “There’s a SALE at Red Letter Words! Visit redletterwords.com on Oct. 10-11 for 46% off your order of $100 or more! “]
But before you all get too distracted and overstimulated by all the excitement, let’s write!
The Five Minute Friday prompt this week is …
Ready? GO.
We rented a high school gym for a relaxed gathering after our wedding ceremony, and my husband’s aunt had given us bright yellow traditional outfits to wear for the reception. Music pumped through the hall, the majestic maize of our post-wedding attire swaying through the crowds as we danced and danced until the sub-Saharan beat slipped into my bloodstream and took over my pulse.
And I’ve never been the same.
My mom was there, at our South African wedding. And though she used to hate being the center of attention, she stood in front of the newly acquired branches of my family tree, microphone lifted to her lips. And like a resilient leaf clinging to a branch in a gust of wind, she trembled bravely, and, “Take care of her,” she said.
Tears slipped down her cheeks.
“Take care of her.”
And they did.
And they have.
And they do.
They have fed me and clothed me. Nourished me and sheltered me. Lifted me and held me.
[Tweet “They have been Christ to me. “]
They’ve grafted me in as one of their own, their love surging up from the very roots buried deep in African soil.
And I’m so very grateful.
STOP.
Now it’s your turn! Link up your five minutes on the word CARE right after you …

Those candles would make perfect Christmas gifts! Thank you for this opportunity! Heart Hugs, Shelly <3
Love your words about “Care” here Kate. They do matter. I’ve been missing mine – I’m just in one of those spell, you know? But I also know that I adore the print: “She knew God was in the midst of her and she would not be moved.” With this coupon, I might spring for the gallery wrapped canvas! Might do it with the coupon too! Thank you.
i love red letter words! the one i saw that i LOVE is the one called YOU ARE LOVED. great words:)
Woot-woot for 1/3 through #write31days. And I would LOVE to win the greeting cards. One can never have too many greeting cards. Cuz I love snail mail and #fmfpartysnailmail and all the goodness that comes with getting happiness in your mailbox. 🙂
How beautiful! Especially the thought that your new family has been Christ to you. Oh, that we would always be Christ to each other.
I would have loved to see your wedding….sounds beautiful!
Oh my! I love the table runner too. I’ve seen these items before and wondered where they came from. So happy to know!
Two things…
1- I wish I could have been at your wedding!!!
2 – How do you get your key statements to tweet on your post? That is brilliant! I love that!!!!
Hi Bethany! I use a WordPress plug-in called “Click to Tweet.” Hope that helps! 🙂
Oh man, I don’t know what I would pick. Something for my wall, to remind me that God is present in my life and that He is faithful.
I am loving this #31daychallenge though it is proving to be a challenge! And oh my goodness I love Red Letter Words! I’ve never seen the table runner before. That would be beautiful to have to add to a holiday place setting! Thank you for all you do! God bless!
It’s hard to choose… but I think I would ask for a specific verse (so, custom?).
I am not sure what I would pick 🙂 They are all so lovely. I so enjoy being here each Friday. A big thank you for hosting us all each week. Blessings!
I love this story….isn’t it incredible how sometimes people will just reach out and take you in with their whole hearts? I wrote on being cared for as well today, and how I found a family in South Africa in the most unexpected of places. That country? It’s full of some big-hearted people! 🙂
Excited about this giveaway and about our new prompt “care.” My mind is already spinning in a hundred ways to share this word with others on my blog.
The You Are Loved! Thanks for the opportunity.
Entered. I would love to win… I love Red Letter Words.
Traci Michele
Love all the blocks!
Thanks for another great giveaway. My daughter was talking about how she wants words to decorate her room. I hope I win. I may buy something if not for Christmas. I love today’s word too. Off to write my post.
I really like your descriptive writing, Kate! This is a beautiful story.
All of the artwork is gorgeous, but I especially like the Red Letter Words greeting cards. I can’t possibly choose among them, so I’d go with the assortment (all occasion mixed cards).
What a beautiful story. Thank you for sharing that, Kate. I would order a meaningful verse for our family to place on our wall of memories. We’d probably pick together between our favorites…we’ve got a lot of them. Thanks for the giveaway and for being such a lovely host.
Thank you for the great giveaway and for hosting Five Minute Friday!
I love the way your describe the coming together of your new family!
If I won, I would get something with Romans 12:12, or something personalized with all my babies’ names on it
I’d love the 1 Thessalonians 5-16 print

I would customize my favorite scripture. Ahh, but there are so many!! Seriously, I love their stuff. It looks so good.
I would order the 3 set “You are my sunshine” prints. LOVE LOVE those!!
