Welcome to another round of Five Minute Friday, where bloggers from all corners of the internet gather to feverishly tap out five minutes of free writing on a given prompt each week.

If you don’t know what we’re all about, click here for more info!

This week’s prompt is:

FMF - Open

Stretch your fingers, set your timer, and let’s … GO.

Open our minds, Lord, to know your goodness. Fill us with Your truth.

Open our hearts, to feel Your love. To know Your tender mercies. Soften us to pour that same love into empty cups. Cause our hearts to beat with Yours.

Open our hands, Lord, that we might be subject to Your will. You are the potter; we are the clay. Mold us and make us, we pray.

Open our ears, Lord, that we would hear Your voice. In the roar of thunder and in the silence of freshly fallen snow. In the whisper of the wind and in hard pellets of rain. Train us to be discerning, and to obey.

Open our mouths, Lord. Make us hunger for Your righteousness. Fill us with the bread of life. Give us morsels that will sustain. Quench our thirst for You.

Show us your glory.

  1. Reading this made me think of Psalm 34:8 – “Taste and see that the Lord is good.” And Psalm 81:10 –
“Open your mouth wide and I will fill it.” Yes!

  2. Open to God…Open my heart, Lord, I want to see Jesus!! Totally skipped looking for “the word” last night; but will get it posted this morning!

Thanks for kicking it off for me this morning!

  3. […] FMF prompt: open. Inspired by a conversation with a friend last night. God’s doing a number on my heart these days. When your words are pouring out, turning into his & then silence. And the screen becomes a mirror you’re watching yourself talk to. You want to give hug. but know the glass is fragile & you are too far. So, you let the hush come, praying through the distance. truth will envelope the girl with tired sighs. […]

  4. […] I haven’t done a Five Minute Friday post in a while but this prompt seemed to scream my name. Just as a reminder, Five Minute Friday posts are from a weekly prompt that bloggers from all over use and then link up their posts. The idea is to write on the topic for five minutes without stopping, without editing. I sorta follow those rules. You can read other posts on Open here. […]
