It’s Five-Minute Friday over at Lisa-Jo Baker’s, and today the word is MIGHTY.

We hunch over from the burden.

We slog through the mire of life, one step at a time.

We fret over unpaid bills and pray that the paycheck will stretch to the end of the month.

We read the news and lose sleep over health care uncertainties, government policies, turmoil overseas, gas prices.

We fear the unknown, the what-if’s, the sharp turns in the road ahead.

We feel weak, afraid, without control.

We forget that we serve the One who has parted seas, defeated armies, changed the watercourses of kings’ hearts.

We square our shoulders and pretend we are mighty, forgetting that the joy of the Lord is our strength, forgetting that we struggle with all of Christ’s energy, which so powerfully works in me.

We forget that He rose from the dead.

We forget that He defeated death.

We forget that one day, we will know life and life eternal, because of Him.

Because He is not only mighty, but He is the Almighty.

The Almighty over the big and the small.

“… the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.” ~ 1 John 4:4
