It’s Five-Minute Friday over at Lisa-Jo Baker’s, and today the word is MIGHTY.

We hunch over from the burden.

We slog through the mire of life, one step at a time.

We fret over unpaid bills and pray that the paycheck will stretch to the end of the month.

We read the news and lose sleep over health care uncertainties, government policies, turmoil overseas, gas prices.

We fear the unknown, the what-if’s, the sharp turns in the road ahead.

We feel weak, afraid, without control.

We forget that we serve the One who has parted seas, defeated armies, changed the watercourses of kings’ hearts.

We square our shoulders and pretend we are mighty, forgetting that the joy of the Lord is our strength, forgetting that we struggle with all of Christ’s energy, which so powerfully works in me.

We forget that He rose from the dead.

We forget that He defeated death.

We forget that one day, we will know life and life eternal, because of Him.

Because He is not only mighty, but He is the Almighty.

The Almighty over the big and the small.

“… the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.” ~ 1 John 4:4

  1. That was a powerful read for me this morning. It can be so easy to forget. I wonder why that is when we only need to look around and see this creation or look back on our lives and see where we’ve come from. Thanks for sharing your Five Minute Friday post today. It is my first time participating and I have been so inspired.

    • Welcome to Five-Minute Friday! I’ve so enjoyed this community. It’s a challenge, but can be very inspiring and motivating. Grateful to hear that this post resonated with you. Hope to see you again at FMF!

  2. Beautiful and powerful words. I needed to read these words this morning. So often I get so consumed with my worries and doubts and fears and everything else the world throws at me, that I forget who He is. I forget that He is mighty and strong. I forget that He is bigger than anything I will ever face in this world. Thank you for that reminder. Hopping over from FMF!

    • Oh, thanks so much for your feedback, Ami. This is my prayer as I post, that something that I’m prompted to write will impact another. May we remember that He who is in us is greater than He who is in the world.
